JAA Professional Pilot Course
Skymates Inc. is offering this program in partnership with CATS and Egnatia. The course is divided into six different phases, each phase will allow you to obtain a different certificate or rating, phase one through four will be held at Skymates Inc. in Arlington Texas, USA, in cooperation with CATS while phase five and six will be held at Egnatia in Kavala, Greece. The course will allow you to obtain both FAA and JAA certification.
Our JAA Pro Pilot Course is designed to allow the ab-initio student to progress from a level of no flying experience to the issuance of a FAA Single and Multi Engine Commercial Certificate with Instrument Rating, JAA Commercial and JAA/FAA CPL/IR.
Our classes begin on the first Monday of each month with the ground school for the FAA PPL.
PHASE I - FAA Private Pilots License
The FAA Private Pilots Certificate (PPL) is the first step of the training course. An ICAO PPL is the requirement to commence training for the JAA ATPL. This training is conducted under FAA Part 61 or 141, it is conducted at Skymates inc. In Texas and it can be done in Cessna 152, Cessna 172 and Cessna 172 SP. Obtaining an unrestricted FAA PPL includes the ability of flying VFR at night (night rating), which is one the requirements for the JAA Commercial License.
PHASE II - JAA ATPL Ground School
In Phase II you will complete the JAA ATPL Ground School, which is a full time assisted learning program, in paternership with CATS.
There are 14 subjects to pass at JAA level, grouped into 3 Stages. The ground school will be completed after 21 weeks of classroom instruction and will cover all 14 subject areas.

PHASE III - FAA Instrument Rating
The FAA Instrument Rating is the next step of your training, it will be conducted at Skymates Inc. in Texas under the FAA approved Part 141 program. You will spend about 40 hours of instrument training time on Cessna 172's equipped with Garmin 430's, Cessna 172SP's, Cessna 172SP G1000's and Flight Simulator.
PHASE IV - Time Building
About 140 hours of time Building are required in order to build up enough hours to commence a JAA/FAA commercial pilot course.
PHASE V - FAA Commercial
The FAA Commercial is the last phase conducted in the United States, at the completion of this stage, you will have about 250 hours total time, and an FAA Commercial Single, Multi Engine and Instrument Rating.
PHASE VI - JAA Instrument Rating & Commercial
This is the first of the two phases conducted at Egnatia in Greece. You will spend about 45 days here and will convert your FAA Instrument Rating into a JAA IR and then you will do a CPL conversion from FAA Commercial to JAA Commercial.
PHASE VII - JAA Multi-Crew Coordination
Multi Crew Coordination is conducted at Egnatia, in Greece. The duration is about 8 days and will be conducted in the Alsim ALX jet simulator.
JAA PRO PILOT COURSE
Pre-entry requirements:
- Be able to read and understand English
- Have a FAA JAA class 1 Medical issued
- Be at least 18 years of age
Skymates Inc. is offering this course in conjuction with CATS and Egnatia.
The course duration is estimated to be completed in 12 months.

Your study sessions will be supervised by senior ground instructors, where you will be given the opportunity to discuss any difficulties you have with any aspect of the syllabus with them. Following every module there will be a week long refresher course before the exams. This course will be held onsite at our main training facility in Arlington, Texas, afterwhich, the exams will be taken at a CAA testing center.
